Buhari And Goodluck Jonathan In Closed-Door Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari and former president Goodluck Jonathan are currently in a closed-door meeting at the Aso Rock seat of power, Abuja. Jonathan arrived at the presidential villa in the earlier hour of Tuesday morning, July 20. Although the purpose of the meeting is yet unknown, Legit.ng notes that it may be connected with the honour President Buhari bestowed on his predecessor recently.

It would be recalled that despite political differences, President Buhari on Saturday, July 18, approved the naming of the railway complex in Agbor, the operational hub of Itakpe-Warri rail line, after Jonathan.

The former president issued this vital warning on Friday, May 22, while participating in a webinar organised by the Kofi Annan Foundation. Jonathan enjoined African leaders to be careful of the way they handle the scourge which has ushered the world into unrest, adding that "all continental bodies must come up with their own minimum standards."

In related news, Legit.ng reported that with a view to resolving the worsening socio-political situation in Mali, Jonathan has been appointed as a special envoy for the West African nation.

The high-profile appointment was given to Jonathan on Tuesday, July 14, by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). As part of his duties, the former Nigerian leader is to convene a series of talks with President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, opposition bigwigs, civil society as well as religious bodies.
