History of Ikeduru local government

Ikeduru Local Government was created out of the former Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Local Government Areas in 1989 during the administration of the then Amadi Ikwechegh (a military Governor)  and is one of the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State of Nigeria. Its Headquarters is located at Iho along Amanwaozuzu ekeiho road before Emmanuel Iwuanyianwu stadium Iho.

 It was 1st located at Iho-Uboakiri road Mbaitoli from 1989 to 2019 and was relocate to it’s permanent site by his Excellency Owele Anayo Rochase Okorocha the formal governor of Imo state in 2019    

 Ikeduru shares boundaries with Isiala Mbano L.G.A on the North, Owerri North L.G.A on the South, Aboh Mbaise and Ahiazu L.G.A on the West. Ikeduru has an estimated population density of about 178,481..

 Ikeduru has a very rich cultural heritage and this is manifested in dressing, music, dance, festivals, arts and crafts, and the tradition manifested in dressing, music, dance, festivals, arts and crafts, and the traditional hospitality of the people.
