History of Ikeduru local government

Ikeduru Local Government was created out of the former Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Local Government Areas in 1989 during the administration of the then Amadi Ikwechegh (a military Governor)  and is one of the 27 Local Government Areas in Imo State of Nigeria. Its Headquarters is located at Iho along Amanwaozuzu ekeiho road before Emmanuel Iwuanyianwu stadium Iho.

Traditional Rulership Of Ngugo Obaire

 It was 1st located at Iho-Uboakiri road Mbaitoli from 1989 to 2019 and was relocate to it’s permanent site by his Excellency Owele Anayo Rochase Okorocha the formal governor of Imo state in 2019    

 Ikeduru shares boundaries with Isiala Mbano L.G.A on the North, Owerri North L.G.A on the South, Aboh Mbaise and Ahiazu L.G.A on the West. Ikeduru has an estimated population density of about 178,481..

History Of Ikeduru Movie Association

 Ikeduru has a very rich cultural heritage and this is manifested in dressing, music, dance, festivals, arts and crafts, and the tradition manifested in dressing, music, dance, festivals, arts and crafts, and the traditional hospitality of the people.

According to Jo Alutu (1963:4) the putative projeniter of Nnewi people was a man called Digbo. Therefore, the history of Ngugo Obaire is woven around a man called Obaire Ike. Ike was the son of Duru who migrated from Eziama Obiato in Mbaitoli local government area. Duru lost his way during hunting expediction at Ugirike. Duru gave birth to Ike and Ike begot many sons that make up what is known today as Ikeduru. Traditional Rulership Of Ngugo Obaire Obaire was the fifth son of Ike, the incidence in the life of Obaire which forced him to run to Amaraku in Mbanu make interwarlists believe that Ngugo Obaire migrated from mbano. Tradition has it that obaire the fifth son of Ike was a problem son, Ike wanted to do away with obaire by selling him to the Portuguese slave traders, obaire’s mother caught mind of Ike’s intention by secritely advice her son Obaire to take flee to his maternal home in Mbano for refuge.
