The Governors resolved to “intercede with the labour unions, the Federal Government and other stakeholders and especially call labour to exercise caution in its plan to embark on an indefinite strike action, noting that any such action will worsen the already deteriorating economic situation of the workers brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.” They also resolved to set up a committee made up of the Governors of Jigawa (Chairman), Nasarawa, Ogun, Kwara, Gombe, Abia and Bayelsa states to interface with the National Economic Council (NEC), the labour unions and relevant stakeholders for the overall interest of the nation. Tension As Explosion Rocks Lagos, Ogun Communities

  Panic gripped residents of Lagos and Ogun border communities on Thursday following an explosion and massive fire. The explosion, which was heard as far as Harmony Estate and Obawole, Ogba, Iju in Lagos as well as Akute Ogun State, was said to have occurred around 3:30pm around Balogun Bus Stop in Ishaga. The Nation gathered the loud bang, which many residents reported across social media platforms was as a result of a gas tanker about to enter a newly built plant in a residential neighbourhood. 20 Kidnapped Victims And Others Rescued By Troops, In Katsina

  No fewer than twenty kidnap victims, including eleven women and unspecified number of children have been rescued from bandits at different locations in Katsina State, The Nation has learnt. At Fankama and Sabon Layi area of Faskari Local Government Area of the State, eight abducted persons were rescued following intelligence reports that bandits dressed in military camouflage uniforms were sighted with the victims. Also, troops of Operation Sahel Sanity who were on patrol at Chabas area of the State, rescued a truck driver, 11 women and children who were on their way to Batsari Market but were abducted by the bandits along Shimfida – Gurbi road, following a distress call. Kasim Danjuma Sacked Over Alleged Certificate Forgery

Barely seventy-hours after it lost the governorship election in Edo state, the National Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Niger has sacked Kasim Danjuma, the candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Magama/Rijau federal constituency by-election held in the state. This Day reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Danjuma winner of the by-election held on March 27, 2020. Legit.ng gathered that the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the by-election, Emma Alamu, had approached the tribunal over the poll. He accused Danjuma of submitting forged documents to INEC thereby making him ineligible to contest the by-election. Alamu said that Danjuma presented a fake primary school certificate and forged declaration of age certificate to INEC for the clearance. A teenage youth was today arrested in Umuduebo, Umunakanu, Ehime Mbano for allegedly stealing clothes and wheelbarrow that belong to one Mr Damion from the aforementioned community. The robber who stated that he hails from Umueze 1, confessed to the crime seeing the momentum built up by the villagers to descend on him. On further interrogations, he described his act as the work of the devil..... ''I don't know when I do this stealing, it's the work of the devil, I have been in this village for three times to steal clothes, wheelbarrow and other valuable assets. I always hang arround waiting for people to wash their clothes before i steal them. INEC Issued Certificate Of Return To Godwin Obaseki

  The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday presented certificate of return to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Phillip Shaibu. The National Commissioner, INEC in charge of Edo, Rivers, and Bayelsa, Mrs. May Agbmuche-Mbu made the presentation on Tuesday at the INEC office in Aduwawa, Benin City, the Edo State capital. Agbmuche-Mbu commended stakeholders particularly the security agencies for their role in the smooth conduct of the governorship poll. She said: “I hereby certify that Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been elected to the office of governor of Edo State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria at the election held on the 19th of September 2020,” Agbmuche-Mbu said while presenting the certificate to Obaseki. Obaseki was returned elected by INEC after polling the highest number of votes in the keenly-contested election conducted on Saturday, September 19.

  The governor of Borno state, Babagana Umara Zulum, has said that the sacrifices of Colonel Dahir.C. Bako, Commander of 25 Task Force Brigade of Operation Lafiya Dole, and other heroes will not be in vain. Zulum noted this in a statement issued by his spokesman, Isa Gusau, and shared on his Facebook page while mourning the death of Bako on Monday, September 21. Recall that Colonel Bako died from injuries sustained while fighting Boko Haram insurgents in an ambush around Damboa in the southern part of Borno state on Sunday, September 20.
