IPOB Members Accused Of Killing Six Soldiers, Four Policemen In Rivers State

  Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has accused members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of killing six soldiers and 4 police officers during the #endsars protests in his state. Wike said this on Friday, October 30, 2020, when the national leadership of the Nigerian Guild of Editors paid him a courtesy visit at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt. The governor said the protest against police brutality was peaceful until IPOB members took the law into their own hands. He said, “I don’t support criminality.   Operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT have arrested 41 suspects for their alleged involvement in looting properties during the outbreak of violence across Lagos State. Among the suspects were those alleged to have vandalised malls, private shops and houses around Surulere, Apapa, Ijora and environs with goods worth over N100m recovered. Parading some of the suspects Friday, the Commander NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Ibrahim Shettima, said the Navy also recovered a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) looted from the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) headquarters that was set ablaze as well as a truck loaded with various looted items including electronics, kitchen and home appliances, bicycles, auto spare parts, fabrics, clothes and shoes, COVID-19 palliatives, among others. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has spoken on the Tuesday shooting of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos, by soldiers. The shooting has attracted global outrage against the Nigerian authorities. The number of deaths from the incident is yet to be ascertained. “My office has been closely following the events around the current protests in Nigeria and the reaction of Nigeria’s law enforcement and security agencies,” the ICC prosecutor, Fatou Bensouda, said in a statement posted on Twitter on Thursday by the ICC (@IntlCrimCourt). “Any loss of life or injury is concerning.
